Good music, delicious food, and a giving attitude... all who attended ETA4's charity dinners in Orange County (at Seafood World Restaurant) and San Diego (at Ly's Garden) would agree that they were a huge success! Overall, ETA4 was able to raise almost $7000 for the summer programs and various projects. Amazing.

Thank you everyone who came out and supported... it figuratively means the world to us. Be sure to check out photos and video on the blog.

TASA benefit on April 17

04.08.2011

On April 17th, UCSD's TASA (Taiwanese-American Student Association) will be hosting a "Mr. and Ms. Formosa" Pageant, with all proceeds going to the ETA4 Taiwan program. Some information:

The Mr. and Ms. Formosa Culture Pageant will be crowning one male and one female contestant as one who best represents Formosa, the name originally given to Taiwan, meaning "Beautiful Island" in Portuguese. This event was created in hopes of spreading Taiwanese culture as well as enriching those with interest in Taiwan, matching TASA's mission statement perfectly. This event is intended to be a philanthropic event, with any profits raised being donated to ETA4. We believe ETA4 to be an admirable organization, and with our help, they can further achieve their worthy goals.

For information on how to attend this event, contact Victor: victor@eta4.org .

ETA4 in the News + CGIU Updates!

04.07.2011

On April 17th ETA4 was selected to attend the Clinton Global Initiative University conference in San Diego. If you haven't heard about it, please check out Clinton Global Initiative University. It was a very selective process! We were able to get in touch with other groups who are very passionate about making an impact in the world. In addition, we were honored to be present as President Clinton delivered several messages. We have built some good connections with several contacts who will be able to contribute to our cause in the long run. Additionally, we were featured in the San Diego Union Tribune! Check it out and let all of your friends know:

ETA4 "Lends a Hand"

01.30.2011

ETA4 joined Lend a Hand San Diego along with various other community organizations to pick up trash in El Cajon neighborhoods, as well as identifying graffiti within the area. Although we came in a small bunch of 4 (Mike Lo, Ruby Le, Victor Wilson, Anna Huynh), we were able to put together 4 full bags of trash to contribute to the cleaning up of El Cajon! After the event, we went to have a delicious vegan lunch together at Stephanie's Bakery in Ocean Beach, and visited the Chinese Historical Museum of San Diego in downtown! We are hoping that for our next community service event, more of you will be able to make it out! Special thanks to Jennifer for reaching out to Lend a Hand! We look forward to your planning our next community service event as the last two have been very fun and rewarding!

PB&J Day for the Homeless

11.28.2010

We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with friends and family!
On Sunday, a small group of ETA4 members (alumni, current, and new!) got together at Anna’s house to put together Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches, Hot baked potatoes, a sac lunch with Capri Sun, Nutritional Bars, Fruits, and Canned foods in order to go distribute them in downtown San Diego. In addition, we wrote personalized messages and left them in the bags for the homeless people. Some notes read:
-“Roses are red, violets are blue, please don’t forget, we’re thinking of you!”
-“Dear Friend, we may not be able to fully understand your situation, but we hope that we’re able to contribute in any small way.”
-“We hope that we can contribute in any small way. We wish you a joyous holiday season and don’t forget we’re thinking of you!”
7 people from ETA4 marched downtown SD to distribute a total of 55 meals to 55 wonderful people.
